About Reiki
Reiki is commonly translated from two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power or the Universal" and Ki which is "Life Force Energy". So, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." It is founded by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is a spiritual, vibrational healing practice based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. People receiving Reiki often express a sense of peace and happiness. It is not necessary that everyone feel Reiki during healing session but Reiki works on everyone even if they do not feel energy vibes.
You can get Reiki treatments from either a professional or a friend who has been trained, or you can learn to give yourself Reiki-treatment as a daily wellness practice.
Anyone can learn Reiki
Yes! Anyone can learn Reiki. The ability to learn Reiki is not dependent upon the capacity, individual talent or ability to meditate. It does not take years to learn. It takes a few moments to learn it. It is simply passed on from the teacher to the student by performing the Attunement Ceremony. As soon as this happens, student has and can do Reiki. Because of this, it is easily learned by anyone
The Attunement Ceremony
Reiki is not taught in the way of other courses of studies. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during a special attunement process. This process opens the energy centres called chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source, which works for the whole life of the learner. Once you have received a Reiki attunement, you will have Reiki for the remainder of your life. It does not wear off and you can never lose it.
The Reiki attunement is a powerful spiritual experience. In the attunement, energies are channelled into the student through the Reiki Master. The attunement can also increase psychic sensitivity.
There is, however, no religious belief system attached to Reiki. Reiki is a spiritual as well as a healing art, not a religion. There is no religious belief taught ever. Reiki is taught and practiced around the world in many different cultures and does not conflict with the religion of the practitioner or recipient.
